Do Doubly Charged Monatomicanions Exist in Aqueous Solutions? by Yizhak Marcus Archives of Organic and Inorganic Chemical Sciences  in Lupine Publishers

The chalcogenide atoms (X = oxygen, sulfur, selenium, tellurium, polonium) form doubly charged monatomic anions, X2-, which exist in crystalline salts. The question arises whether, once such salts are dissolved in water, such species persist, or do they hydrolyze completely to form the hydrochalcogenide anion:

Computational Studies of the Corrosion Inhibition Potentials of Quercetin and Coumarin by VM Udowo in Archives of Organic and Inorganic Chemical Sciences  in Lupine Publishers

The molecules of Coumarin and Quercetin were subjected to computational calculations using the Density Functional Theory (DFT) in order investigate their inhibition potentials. The Coumarin molecule demonstrated a greater corrosion inhibition potentials compared to the Quercetin molecule. The corrosion potentials were predicted using quantum chemical parameters like Energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital (EHOMO) and Energy of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (ELUMO), ionization potential (I), Fukui (f+ and f-) indices and Global hardness.

Comparison between a Biochemical Pathway and Organic Chemical Synthesis by Josep J Centelles in Archives of Organic and Inorganic Chemical Sciences  in Lupine Publishers

The first reaction of biochemical degradation pathway from L-phenylalanine to L-tyrosine (para-hydroxy-L-phenylalanine) is compared with organic chemical synthesis of ortho-hydroxy-L- phenylalanine, meta-hydroxy-L-phenylalanine and para-hydroxy- L-phenylalanine. Enzymatic reaction is specific for the para- isomer, is a quicker reaction and shows higher yield than non enzymatic reactions.

Two Step Conversion of Ferulic Acid to Vinyl Phenol by Meena Krishania in Archives of Organic and Inorganic Chemical Sciences in Lupine Publishers

The cereal industries produce several million tons of cereal brans every year which are good source of ferulic acid. There was no such chemical route to convert ferulic to vinyl phenol directly. Therefore, an alternative approach two step conversion of ferulic acid to vinyl phenol was developed for better and costly flavour by using chemical route to make it cost effective.

Benzotriazole: A Versatile Synthetic Auxiliary by Siva S Panda in Archives of Organic and Inorganic Chemical Sciences in Lupine Publishers

Benzotriazole (BtH) is particularly versatile synthetic auxiliary because of its attractive properties. Benzotriazole can be easily inserted into molecules and equally can also act as a good leaving group. This molecule is a weak acid (pKa 8.2) as well as weak base (pKa < 0) and because of this acid-base property of benzotriazole. This molecule also shows not only electron donating but also electron attracting ability, which leads to various synthetic applications. In 1980, benzotriazole was first reported as synthetic auxiliary in organic chemistry [1]. Since then benzotriazole is used in the construction of various monocyclic and bicyclic heterocyclic compounds which are difficult to prepare by other methods [2-5].

Influence of the Cr Content on the Corrosion Properties of a Series of Binary Cobalt-Chromium Alloys in Acidic Artificial Saliva by Estelle Kretz in Archives of Organic and Inorganic Chemical Sciences in Lupine Publishers

Cobalt-based alloys are more and more considered for dental applications, instead the expensive noble alloys and the other predominantly based alloys based on the allergen element nickel. These alloys frequently contain chromium to allow good resistance against corrosion as this may take place in the buccal milieu. The most often chromium is present in high quantity, close to 30wt. %, but it is maybe possible to decrease a little its contents without losing corrosion resistance. The aim of this study is exploring how the corrosion behavior of a cobalt alloy may vary versus its chromium content. In order to simplify this investigation only Co- xCrbinary alloys were considered, with x decreasing from 30 to 0wt.% by slices of 5wt.%. A series of seven alloys was synthesized by foundry under inert atmosphere and their behavior in corrosion in an artificial saliva of simple composition (NaCl 9g/L) acidified to pH=2.3 was specified using various classical electrochemical techniques (open circuit potential follow-up, Stern-Geary, Tafel, cyclic polarization). It appeared that passivation of the alloys occurred during the first two hours of immersion when the chromium content was 10 wt. % or higher, with as result high corrosion potentials and low corrosion current densities.

Identification of Modified and Unmodified Lipophilic B-Diketones Using Electrospray Ionisation Mass Spectrum (Esi-Ms) by Kaana Asemave in Archives of Organic and Inorganic Chemical Sciences in Lupine Publishers

Identification of modified and unmodified lipophilic p-dketone was carried out successfully using positive ion mode of ESI-MS. The ESI-MS spectra were obtained using LC - Agilent 1260 Infinity with MS - Bruker micro OF time of flight MS in mass range of m/z 200-900, capillary voltage 4500V, nebuliser pressure 21.8 psi, dry gas flow 8L/min and dry gas temp 433K. Potassium adduct ion 503.4437m/z was found for the 14,16-Hentriacontanedione (Htd); whereas, the itaconate modified Htd (Ita) gave a confirmatory sodium species 645.5051m/z. The ion 589.4794 m/z was for potassium species of the singly added acrylate modified Htd (Mas). Meanwhile, the doubly added acrylate modified Htd (Mad) formed the potassium adduct ion of 675.5179m/z. However, protonated species for these molecules were not obtained.

Chemical Characterization on the Aromatic Composition of Cedrus Atlantica from Morocco in Two Geographical Areas will Break by Tarik Ainane in Archives of Organic and Inorganic Chemical Sciences in Lupine Publishers

Essential oils have various properties in different fields of application. This work entitled on the chemical characterization of Cedrus Atlantica of Morocco in two geographical zones will break: Cedrus Atlantica of Ajdir (khenifra region) (CAA) and Cedrus Atlantica of Wiwane (Azrou region) (CAW) which belongs to the family Pinaceae. The essential oils were extracted by hydrodistillation of the aerial parts (stems, leaves and flowers) of Atlantica Cedrus and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The analyzes show that Cedrus Atlantica Ajdir (CAA) has p-Himachalene as the major constituent of this essential oil with a content of approximately (31,24)%, followed by a-Himachalene (15,63%) and y-Himachalene (14.46%), with a percentage of 61.33%. For Wiwane Cedrus Atlantica (CAW) p-Himachalene (28.85%), a-Himachalene (17.93%) and y -Himachalene (16.52%) are the major constituent, with a percentage of 63.3% .The recorded yields are: 1.94%) for Cedrus Atlantica of Ajdir (CAA) and (2.09%) for Cedrus Atlantica of Wiwane (CAW).
